UN Gaza Report Accuses Israel of Forced Starvation

UN Gaza Report has triggered global concern. A top United Nations official accused Israel of using forced starvation against Gaza civilians. This accusation could qualify as a war crime under international law.
In a BBC interview, Tom Fletcher, the UN’s humanitarian chief, condemned Israel’s food blockade. He stressed that no justification exists for starving a population. “It is classified as a war crime,” Fletcher said. “Courts and history will judge these actions.”
UN Gaza Report Details Blockade and Aid Chaos
Israel imposed a strict blockade on Gaza for nearly three months. Limited aid was allowed only recently. Since then, aid centres operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) have seen chaos. The GHF is a US- and Israeli-backed group not endorsed by the UN.
Ceasefire Plan Faces Doubts
Earlier this week, 47 people were injured in a desperate rush for food. UN officials confirmed the incident. Fletcher said aid sits at the border while Gazans starve. He noted Israeli ministers admitted using starvation to pressure the population.

“International law must be respected,” Fletcher added. “Governments worldwide must support humanitarian principles.”
UN Report Overshadowed by Controversial Ceasefire Plan
The Trump administration proposed a ceasefire plan. Hamas criticized it harshly. They believe the deal will lead to more deaths and hunger. While Israel accepted the proposal, Hamas is still reviewing it.
Hamas demands a permanent ceasefire, troop withdrawal, and unrestricted aid. “The deal doesn’t meet any of our demands,” said Hamas official Basem Naim. Still, leaders are evaluating the offer responsibly.
A draft seen by Reuters outlines a 60-day truce. It includes a prisoner exchange and aid flow. Egypt and Qatar are mediating the plan, with President Trump as guaranton.
However, Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri said the proposal lacks credibility. It includes no Israeli promise to end the war or lift the blockade. “It pressures us while civilians suffer,” he said.
Report Highlights Conflicting Claims
Hamas said it reached an initial deal with Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff. But Witkoff denied it. US officials called Hamas’s statement disappointing. Israel dismissed it as psychological warfare.
Prime Minister Netanyahu showed conditional support for the plan. Analysts say it may be a strategy to blame Hamas if talks fail. “This is not the first time,” said Israeli analyst Akiva Eldar.
UN Gaza Report Warns of Dire Humanitarian Crisis
The humanitarian situation is worsening. Since March 18, over 4,000 Palestinians died. The total death toll exceeds 54,000. Israeli attacks continue, targeting dense civilian areas.
Though Israel allowed limited aid on May 19, it’s far from sufficient. UN Secretary-General António Guterres called the relief “a teaspoon of what is needed.”
UN Gaza Report Cites Legal Actions
Gaza’s health ministry confirmed nearly 3,800 new deaths since March. Ninety percent of the population is now displaced. Hunger and destruction are everywhere.
Since October 2023, over 61,000 Palestinians, mainly women and children, have died. The ICC has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant. Israel also faces a genocide case at the ICJ.
The world watches closely. Justice and humanity demand urgent action.
