Bushra Ansari Urges Women to Leave Abusive Marriages at the First Sign of Violence

Bushra Ansari, a senior actress of Pakistani cinema and drama industry talks about how married women who are facing domestic violence should leave their husbands at the onset of physical abuse. She states that if such behaviour is tolerated it will only result in repetition of violence.

The famous actor released a short video on YouTube saying sorry to both the victims and parents whose daughters are experiencing domestic violence. She accuses parents as the chief culprits here; they know about the atrocities but don’t make any attempt to save their girls.

In another social media video which was widely shared, she advised married women never to tolerate physical or mental violence from their husbands under any circumstances. She expressed her frustration with parents who admit that they knew for many months or years that their daughters were being abused by their partners but did nothing.

However, why can’t they save them before it’s too late since these parents see daily how their daughters get tortured? As an example, she mentioned Sania Zahra whom her husband did not allow her to attend her brother’s funeral or wedding according to Zahra’s parents’ information and rather turned into torture on her.

Why didn’t Sania Zahra protect herself from this ill-treatment when she knew very well that he was oppressing her? Furthermore, once someone gets into matrimony, that person needs just as much protection as a young child would require.

To those women who have been subjected to only one incident of violence and who can afford deserting their spouses immediately Bushra Ansari addressed audience. Supposing they do otherwise; much more abuses shall follow up. There might be possibility for liberated educated dames while those with weak backgrounds would find it difficult enough, added she . In spite of this, still she said taking action after the first slap is vital.

One could even refer to Ayesha Jahanzeb who is a TV host and had publicly talked about six months of being tortured by her husband. However, Bushra asked why Ayesha did not leave him when she was an educated and independent woman. She also added that Ayesha’s husband might be a good father but he was never the best husband thus she should have left him earlier.
