Hareem Farooq Childhood Dreams: A Royal Fantasy Revealed

The actress Hareem Farooq, who has played a villainess in the drama Bismil, and on the morning show with Nida Yasir recently talked about this quirky but revealing detail of her childhood: as a little girl, she used to think she was a princess, just like Diana.

A Princess in Her Mind: The Royal Connection

In the interview, Hareem Farooq openly stated: I would imagine myself as a princess in a royal family. I was young and I used to look at Lady Diana and imagine myself to be the same as her, and what was her life like? I was very, very, very day dreamy about it and I used to ask my parents: ‘Do I have a royal family? Why do I not live like a princess?’ And they would laugh at me and say: ‘That is not your life. This is your life.’

From Princess to Humanitarian: A Shift in Dreams

But as she became older, the nature of her dreams began to change. ‘My first dream was that I wanted to be a princess,’ Hareem recounted in the interview. ‘And then I learned about Mother Theresa, and I wanted to help others. So my dream became that I would like to help people.’ Of course, Hareem realised that this kind of desire comes with a price. ‘If I want to help people,’ she said, ‘I would have to sacrifice my own things.’ At this point, she then reconsidered her life-plans.

The Path to Acting: A Surprising Turn

Surprisingly, Hareem revealed that being an actress was not something she aspired to be when she was growing up. ‘I never thought of it,’ she told the interviewer, ‘I always thought that I will just live my life, I will just be happy with whatever I do, I will enjoy my day, I will live my day, and I will laugh.’ For Hareem, life is to be lived with a sense of humour. ‘If you are not laughing in a day, you are wasting your day,’ she said. ‘We all have problems in our life, but we face them with a positive vibe with a good heart.’

Her Role in ‘Bismil’: A Story of Ambition

In Bumil (2017), Hareem plays a lower-class woman who marries a much older man (played by Nauman Ijaz) for financial security and although she’s repulsed by her husband, she is unable to resist the trappings of wealth. The drama has been well-received for its gripping plotline and its heroine’s realistic portrayal of a woman’s struggle. It’s also a tribute to the sacrifices many make to ensure the security of their children.

Conclusion: A Journey of Dreams and Realities

What’s interesting about Hareem Farooq’s interview is that she was honest about how her dreams changed from princess to Mother Teresa to an actress. Life is ever-evolving, and there is no shame in how that looks and feels. As long as we’re forging ahead and embracing the challenges that life throws at us with a positive attitude, and finding the roles that fit us best, we’re taking the right course.
