India Pakistan Tensions: Military Strength Compared

India Pakistan tensions have surged once again following a deadly attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The attack, which resulted in 26 civilian deaths, has triggered fear of escalating military conflict in the region. Pakistan claims it has intelligence suggesting India may launch military action in retaliation.
India Pakistan Tensions and Military Personnel Strength
As the India Pakistan tensions rise, comparing the military size helps understand each country’s preparedness. India maintains a far larger active force of nearly 1.4 million personnel. This includes around 1.2 million in the army, 149,900 in the air force, 75,500 in the navy, and over 13,000 in the coast guard.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s total active force is close to 700,000. This includes 560,000 in the army, 70,000 in the air force, and 30,000 in the navy. The significant difference in personnel size reflects India’s larger military infrastructure and resources.
India Pakistan Tensions and Ground, Air, and Naval Power
India’s ground forces hold a strong lead with 3,740 main battle tanks, compared to Pakistan’s 2,537. Likewise, in artillery, India possesses 9,743 systems, more than double Pakistan’s 4,619.
In the air, India commands 730 combat-ready aircraft. Pakistan has 452, which is a smaller but capable air force. India’s advantage in numbers allows wider coverage and quicker deployment in case of conflict.
Naval strength also favors India. It operates 16 submarines, 11 destroyers, 16 frigates, and two aircraft carriers. In contrast, Pakistan has a leaner fleet with 8 submarines and 10 frigates. Notably, Pakistan has no aircraft carriers.
India Pakistan Tensions and Nuclear Deterrence
Despite conventional differences, both countries maintain nearly equal nuclear arsenals. India has about 172 nuclear warheads, and Pakistan holds 170. This balance plays a crucial role in preventing all-out war, as the stakes remain dangerously high.
Conclusion: Tensions Rise but Nuclear Balance Remains
India Pakistan tensions are alarming, especially with both nations holding powerful armies and nuclear weapons. Although India leads in size and technology, Pakistan’s deterrent capabilities cannot be overlooked. As international voices call for restraint, the focus must remain on dialogue to avoid escalation.
