Third-seed Mehaq Khokhar defeated Noor Malik of Lahore in a thrilling three-set final. She claimed the ladies singles title with scores of 6-3, 5-7, 7-5. The match lasted 3 hours and 10 minutes. Mehaq won the toss and chose to serve. She broke Noor’s serve in the 2nd and 4th games and dominated the first set 6-3.

In the second set, Noor fought back. She took an early 3-1 lead. Mehaq equalized at 4-4. But Noor stayed composed. She broke Mehaq in the 11th game and served out the set 7-5. The final set became a test of nerves. They exchanged breaks till 5-5. At 30-40 in the final game, Mehaq forced an error. She won the match and the title.

Federal Cup As Young Stars Also Shine

The tournament also featured future tennis stars. In Boys 14 & Under, M. Junaid Khan (Peshawar) dominated Shayaan Afridi with a clean 4-1, 4-1 victory. His control and confidence stood out.

In men’s doubles, the top duo Muhammad Shoaib and Muzammil Murtaza won in straight sets. They beat Barkatullah and Yousaf Khan 6-3, 6-1. Their teamwork and powerful serves sealed the win.

In the Boys 18 & Under semi-finals, Muhammad Salar Khan staged a comeback. He beat Abdul Basit 1-6, 6-0, 6-1. In another match, M. Hazik Aasim (Islamabad) shocked 2nd seed Muhammad Yahya 6-1, 7-5. Hazik’s accuracy and calm mindset led him to victory.
