Petrol Prices Likely to Rise from 1 March

Petrol prices likely to go up by 1 march in Pakistan. Industry sources suggest that while high-speed diesel may see a minor decrease. Gasoline prices rise up to Rs. 4 to Rs. 4.50 per liter. The exchange rate and world oil prices will determine the ultimate price changes. Formal announcements will made on February 28.

Petrol Prices Likely to Rise from 1 March

Gasoline is currently a necessary fuel for cars, motorbikes, and compact vehicles. Middle-class and lower-income families are concerned about any price increases. Diesel is essential to heavy transportation, agriculture, and railroad operations. Any change in price may effects on the cost of commodities and food as well.

Fuel taxes continue to account for a significant portion of the total cost. Despite there is no general sales tax, the government still receives about Rs. 76 per liter on the sale of gasoline and diesel.

In addition to customs charges and a petroleum development levy (PDL), these taxes also include margins added by oil corporations and dealers. Luxury fuels like light diesel and high-octane gasoline are also more costly due to a fee of Rs. 50 per litre.

Roughly around 700,000 and 800,000 tones of gasoline and diesel are sold each month. Gasoline and diesel are one of the government’s main sources of income. Kerosene is mostly utilized in rural regions and has a lower demand of about 10,000 tons.
